Photo 5 ... this species is currently building a cluster of small paper nests under our porch ceiling. if left for a few seasons, this will become a thick continuous colony nest with many occupants. These wasps are relatively innocuous neighbours. (They are weak and reluctant stingers.) The colony becomes a problem however, in the porch, as waste builds up under the nest. The species seems to like man made structures; A favourite nest construction site being the underside of concrete bridges.
