Lily & IrisPatersonia sericea var. sericea

Purple Flag

Distinguished from the very similar, and often co-occurring Patersonia glabrata by its more compact tussock form (glabrata having elongated leafy stems branching from the base) and the hairy lower leaf margins (smotth on glabrata). Flowers of sericea may be a slightly deeper shade of purple than those of glabrata, but this is not diagnostic.  P. sericea var longifolia is a smaller tussock, with narrow, grey-green leaves.
