Author's notes

Karen Wilson from Sydney RBG has identified this exotic sedge, based on a specimen from 2014 and these more recent photos. The species is scattered along the edge of a drainage line on sand, with the more robust Carex appressa and Phragmites. It is rhizomatous in habit, not clumped like C. appressa, and its inflorescences are similar to appressa but shorter and plumper.
