Shrub or young tree? If a tree, Myoporum acuminatum, which has the pointed leaf tip. It seems a bit far inland to be Myoporum boninense which is usually a beach/sea cliff species, and has blunter leaf tips.

The plant was about 2m high, I have attached another image, if that helps.
