Hi Teresa - I found a look alike (Boletus mollis) in "A Field Companion to Australian Fungi" (Bruce Fuhrer), on page 81. Apparently (Google search) it is now known as Fistulinella mollis (custard bolete). Bruce says: "Boletus mollis is a remarkably soft bolete, the pink spore-bearing tissue having a custard like texture readily collapsing when touched. Several distinct forms exist, possibly indicating a complex of closely related species." I checked the texture - It was soft and soggy and did indeed go easily to mush when prodded. My three varied in cap size from 1-2.5cm.
B. mollis usually looks pink also whereas this is quite tan coloured, after searching for a few weeks I'm sorry to say I have to leave it as sp. Beautiful images again. Thanks for sharing. Take a a look at Roy Hallings site Sweetgum in the States hes the Bolete specialist, you may find this helpful.
