Identified as R. rattus by the tail being markedly longer than the snout-vent length (19cm vs 15-16 for body). Also the ears are relatively longer than those of R. fuscipes.
Yeah, we thought we'd turn our rat trapping to good purpose. Unfortunately pictures of R. fuscipes are a bit harder to come by, or at least ones that give an uninterrupted view of body and tail length.
