Hi Paul, I think this is A. fornicatus because (a) I have photos of that species from Wonboyn flowering at this time of year (dodgy reasoning, I know) and (b) it keys to that in Bishop's book due to having a horizontal hood-like dorsal sepal. However, David has corrected my IDs of Acianthus in the past, so to be on the safe side I'll leave the final say to him.

Hi Jackie, I sent these and some other photos of the same plant to David Jones and he has ID’d it as A. pusillus. Here are his comments - “Looks like A. pusillus to me, definitely not A. fornicatus which has a very large dorsal sepal that hoods the labellum. Your specimen is a bit unusual in that the flowers are more or less horizontal (usually they are more upright) and the petals are spreading widely (usually they reflex against the ovary.”

Damn, looked hooded to me. Oh well, seems I better give up on trying to ID Acianthus, and just stick to the monotypic genera - I can do those!
