Author's notes

Cap about 80-90 mm across. coarse brown bristles to top of cap. Whitish gills. Tough leathery flesh. very well and quite deeply held in ground. several clusters seen in burnt Eucalypt and Cassuarina forest five months after fire.

This was in an area burnt at quite low intensity, with only the groundcover and shrubs affected, trees still with a full canopy, including the more fire sensitive casuarinas.

Interesting 'fire responsive' species. Recorded in low intensity fire areas up this way as well. Lucky you!!
