Author's notes

It investigated the pond, perhaps for a drink, then headed back into the undergrowth. Before these shots I'm sure I saw distinct bands along the body ... so I thought 'Tiger Snake'. Is there enough info in these shots for an ID Patrick?

Whilst it's not clear from the photos, especially with the pointy end facing away :),
I reckon it looks most like a Tiger Snake (although there's not much to go on). Combined with the fact that you're sure you saw distinct bands is enough to say it's probably a Tiger Snake but since I can't be sure, I'd prefer to leave it as Notechis scutatus (TBC).
