Author's notes

As far as abundance goes there are 100s of spotted gums in this area, but only one of such size as the photographed one. The diameter at the base would have been pushing 2 metres (compare with the adjacent burrawang, usually about 2m across) and the height at least 30 to 40m, with the top branches not really visible. Interestingly I could not make out any sign of hollows, despite its obvious age.
