Author's notes

Used to be carpet of them but continual twice yearly slashing by council has all but finished them.

Hi Liz, I'm kinda hoping there'll be a carpet of them in the area of Bournda NP that got burnt this winter, but so far nothing. We did a bit of a walk there today and did find a few in an unburnt patch (see Max's upcoming sighting), but there's not much recovery in the burnt areas yet, other than bracken. The Council slashing may have been helping to maintain them (they seem to like disturbance), but maybe twice a year is too often.

Were fantastic when it was first cleared but the council didn't return for at least year & they came to mow them down when they were about 20cmhigh...deterioration since then ,twice seemed too much ,I almost lay down in protest ,the contractor doesn't like me !!
