Author's notes

These flies were very well camouflaged when stationary amid the lichen on this granite rock. I watched a solitary individual wander until it came upon (what looked like) a currawongs regurgitated pellet. suddenly there were at least 8 flies filling my viewfinder and jostling for position around the feast.
