Author's notes

Just a couple of them in a bit of mossy bare ground. The area had been burnt but not very intensely (about 7 months ago).

Fabulous photo Jackie. Good to have that bit of history, and the time frame, of the burning of the site. This all helps us build our knowledge and understanding of the fungi and their requirements, we are looking at. I particularly like how you've captured the spider's web behind dusted with the white spores from the fungus!

Good-oh, didn't realise I had. Well, I saw the web, missed the dusting of spores.

It can always help with identification if you look immediately around the fungus, in this case the spiders web, or a leaf, even a cap lower down that may be dusted with spores. Ganoderma australis is a classic one for seeing masses of mid brown 'dust' on logs and vegetation below and around it.
