Author's notes

This rather dramatic clover has been catching my eye here and there on roadsides round the Bega Valley for a couple of weeks. Finally stopped to check it out. I assume seed had blown out of loads of hay being brought in during the drought recently. It also gets sown as part of improved pasture, but I hadn't run across it on the coast before. The plant has low spreading branches, upturned at the end, with these large (to 6cm long) flower clusters at the tips.
