Identify this sighting

Author's notes

At first I thought this was a hermit crab as it moved so quickly, but it is definitely a gastropod. The empty shell was the same size and i think it's the same sort.

I think it is Stomatella (old name Gena?) impertusa. According to Seashells of NSW the shell colour is very variable and can be mottled or striped.
