I'm thinking this is more likely a Masked Owl (and therefore a vulnerable species on the NSW threatened species list). Reasons are: (1) it is in forest, not open country, (2) it looks big, (3) in the first photo the facial mask looks darkish, not white, and the dark rim around it is quite conspicuous and (4) the legs look fully feathered and stout, not slender with a little bit unfeathered at the bottom (all based on the CSIRO Aust Bird Guide). But lets see if Leo agrees before I confirm it.

I'm no owl expert but I agree with Jackie's reasons to lean towards a Masked Owl.

I confirmed a masked owl because of the fully feathered legs and powerful feet and talons. (Best shown - photo 5)
