Author's notes

Sorry about the poor photos. I haven't seen this bird before but it looked most like a Beach Stone curlew. I would be glad of your help to confirm if you can see the images well enough. It had a heavy beak and was quite stocky.

Most probably is the Beach Stone-curlew, as I spotted one last week in the back section of Merimbula Lake on the airport side, I have only seen one once before on this lake and that was quite a few years ago.

I had a look at Atlas sightings and see that Leo has also seen one on two occasions round Merimbula Lake. Thanks for confirming there is one about.
