Were the branch tips thorny? This looks to me like a common garden escapee, Pyracantha angustifolia, which has red or orange berries in profusion (though I'd have thought it would be fruiting rather than flowering at the moment).

Pyracantha angustifolia looks good as an ID, though like Jackie, I would prefer to have some information about the thorns before confirming it.
